RiverHawks Claim NSU Men's Golf Classic

MUSKOGEE, Okla. - Amid a day that consisted of an hour-long weather delay and finishing under darkness at the Muskogee Golf Club, Northeastern State emerged triumphant. The RiverHawks claimed its home tournament title for the first time since 2004 and fifth overall shooting a three-under 851 (289-281-281).

Northeastern State entered the day in a tie with UT Tyler for second with a 570, two strokes back of Central Missouri (568) with two of three rounds in the books. The RiverHawks went on to deliver a strong showing in the third, hitting a 281, which tied with Harding for the best clip in the closing round.

UCM held the lead through the turn before lightning caused an hour delay. The Mules stumbled back out onto the course, opening the door and shooting 294. UT Tyler landed a 296, causing both teams to slip out of the top three and secure the victory for NSU.

Highlighting the winning effort for the RiverHawks was Parker Rose, who secured his first top-five finish as a RiverHawk by placing third individually, shooting a 209 (71-69-69). Gabe Replogle joined him inside the top ten, tying for sixth with a 212 (74-68-70).

Will Livermore finished just outside the top ten, placing 11th with a 213 (69-71-73). Brett Wilcoxen (75-73-70)  and Cole Waymire (75-73-72) finished the tournament with a 220, respectively.

Playing individually, LJ Chavez shot a tournament-best 69 in the third round to finish the week's action in Muskogee with a 217 (73-75-69), while Chris Tovar shot a 243 (83-80-80).

The RiverHawks kick off October in Weatherford, Okla. for The Perkins on Oct. 2-3, hosted by Southwestern Oklahoma State.
