KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northeastern State Baseball is picked to finish sixth in the MIAA preseason coaches poll released Friday.
The RiverHawks had 61 points and were one of the final three teams remaining in the MIAA Tournament last season with a 25-28 mark in the regular season.
Central Missouri topped the preseason coaches poll with 120 total points and ten first-place votes. Missouri Southern finished second in the voting with 105 points and a first-place nod, edging Pittsburg State by two points.
Washburn and Central Oklahoma were ahead of the RiverHawks in the poll. Rogers State is seventh with Emporia State, Newman, and Missouri Westen making up the rest of the top ten.
Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri closed out the rest of the teams in the poll placing 11th and 12th.
The RiverHawks open the season on Feb. 1 with a set of four games in four days in Hot Springs, Ark.
