TAHLEQUAH – Tough sledding on the offensive side of the ball in the first half signaled the undoing for Northeastern State Saturday at the NSU Event Center, as they took a 73-55 loss at the hands of Missouri Western.
The Griffons nearly doubled the scoring output of the RiverHawks in the first half, shooting at a 48.3% (14-of-29) clip while NSU was held to just seven made field goals and 25.9% shooting overall (7-of-27) to take a commanding 18-point lead (37-19) to the break.
The second half showed improvement in terms of offensive efficiency, as the hosts logged a stronger 52.0% showing from the floor (13-of-25), but it wasn't enough to overcome the large deficit.
Anthony Allen led the way for the RiverHawks, scoring 16 points in the loss.
Trey Quartlebaum also entered double figures for ten, while
Jaxon Jones played 39 minutes and put together an eight-point performance.
The RiverHawks will head to Edmond, Okla. to clash with Central Oklahoma next Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
