Women's Soccer hosts #16 Washburn and Emporia State this week

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State returns to Tahlequah to host #16 Washburn and Emporia State at DeLoache Field this week.

The RiverHawks have the MIAA leader in shots and shots on goal in Sydney Taylor (50, 27). Meanwhile, Whitney Gentry ranks inside the conference's top five in goals (five) and goalkeeper Rebecca Partyka is inside the top five in goals against average (.93).

History with the Ichabods (7-2-2, 4-0-1 MIAA)
The RiverHawks won seven of 12 all-time against Washburn, but have been winless in the last three meetings. They seek their first win over the Ichabods since 2019.

  • The Ichabods have won four straight matches in 3-nil decisions, taking down Newman, Nebraska Kearney, Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State during the winning streak. After Central Missouri's slide in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll from #5 to #25, the Ichabods are the highest-ranked MIAA team in the most recent edition of the poll after jumping from #16 to #22.
  • Washburn possesses a top five offense in the MIAA (22 goals), while their defense is tied for tenth in the nation with just .36 goals allowed per game and just four goals allowed on the season. The Ichabods have not allowed a goal since Sep. 7.
  • Six different players have scored multiple goals, led by Ana Muruzabal (four goals), while goalkeeper Hailey Beck is tied for second in the nation with eight shutouts.

  • Emporia sits in eighth across the conference in goals for (15) and is seventh in goals against (15). 
  • In her first season with the program, sophomore Megan Jeremias leads the team with three goals.
