RiverHawks shutout by No. 16 Washburn

TAHLEQUAH -- A goal in the opening minutes by No. 16 Washburn was enough to hand Northeastern State its first home loss of the season, 1-0, on Friday evening.

The Ichabods scored in the seventh minute of the match and landed 14 shots on goal. Rebecca Partyka had a career-high 12 saves, the most for an NSU goalkeeper since Jordan Woodruff stopped one more against Central Oklahoma on Sept. 16, 2016.

Northeastern State was limited to three shots on goal, with Sydney Taylor having two of those.

Washburn moved to 7-2-2 (5-0-1 MIAA) with their tenth consecutive shutout and its second program win in Tahlequah.

The RiverHawks will see a six-match home win streak come to an end and slip to 8-4 (2-4 MIAA).  Next up for NSU is a match on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Emporia State (5-4-2, 3-2-1 MIAA) on DeLoache Field.
