TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State Women's Basketball closes its exhibition slate on Monday morning at Oral Roberts for an early 11 a.m. tip-off inside the Mabee Center.
The contest does count for the Golden Eagles and is their season opener.
Monday's game will be the inaugural broadcast of the year for NSU Basketball on Lakes Country 102.1 FM in Tahlequah. Orry Phillps will be in his second season as the basketball 'Voice of the RiverHawks'. He will be accompanied by William Morgan and Shawn Solo. Radio coverage for the contest begins at 10:30 a.m.
A quick look back
Deyanna Douglas paced Northeastern State with 11 points off the bench on Oct. 30 but turnovers plagued them in an 81-46 exhibition loss at Wichita State. The true freshman played 20 minutes and went 3-for-4 from the field with four rebounds.
Newcomer Alex Hill put up ten points and Courtney Lee added seven as the RiverHawks' offense committed 31 turnovers. The Shockers had 14 takeaways and 25 additional possessions due to the miscues.
Northeastern State opened the contest by making one of their first nine shot attempts and went 15-for-44 from the field across the night, at the arc they were 1-for-13.
About the opponent
Oral Roberts is picked to finish in second place in the Summit League and earned one first-place vote after going 21-11 and 11-5 in league play last season. The Golden Eagles opened their season on Oct. 29 with a 104-51 win over MIAA rival Rogers State. Oral Roberts is led by third-year head coach Kelsi Musick who was 6-4 against Northeastern State when she was at Southwestern Oklahoma, and played against NSU as a student-athlete at Cameron.
The series
For Oral Roberts, the meeting on Monday will be the 11th and the first since Jan. 3, 2011. The Golden Eagles lead the overall series 7-3, but as NAIA members NSU held a 2-1 advantage from 1989-91. Oral Roberts has won all six home meetings between the two programs.

The RiverHawks open its season officially with Southwestern Oklahoma on Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. for a regional crossover with the Great American Conference. The game will be hosted by Rogers State in Claremore.
