TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State women's basketball plays games on consecutive days where they will face Southeastern Oklahoma on Wednesday and then turn around to host Haskell in their season opener on Thursday for its Nike N7 game. Both contests start at 5:30 p.m.
A Quick Look Back
Shooting woes plagued Northeastern State (0-2) in their opening weekend where they were 33.0 percent from the field and 18.8 percent at the arc. The RiverHawks did lead the rebounding battle (+4.5) but averaged 18 turnovers in Claremore. Alex Hill was the lone NSU player in double-figures in both games and averaged 13 points during the opening weekend of play.
About Southeastern Oklahoma (1-1)
Southeastern split its opening weekend playing games in Alva, downing Minnesota Duluth 87-85 in their opener and losing 61-53 to Winona State. SE returns its top three scorers from a season ago and the five players with the most starts last season. In the Great American Conference preseason poll, Southeastern is picked ninth after going 10-18 (6-16 GAC) last season.
The Series
Northeastern State has not faced Southeastern since 2017 and leads the overall series 35-25. The RiverHawks are 12-17 when playing in Durant with Southeastern winning the two most recent meetings.
About Haskell (2-4)
Northeastern State is the first of seven NCAA programs they will see this season. In six games they are averaging 73.7 points per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field. Junior guard Myona Dauphinais paces Haskell with 19.2 points per game.
The Series
Northeastern State has won both meetings with Haskell and this is the third consecutive year the pair will see each other.
