RiverHawks outlast Reddies in 70-61 triumph

TAHLEQUAH — Northeastern State saw three different players hit double figures as they claimed their first win over Henderson State since 1996 in a 70-61 result Wednesday night in Tahlequah.

NSU (2-3) fell behind early, down by as much as 11 (29-18) with 2:53 to play in the opening half. The hosts ended the second period on a 9-0 scoring run to push the score to 29-27 entering intermission.

Grace Abercrombie scored 11 points in the second half, while the RiverHawks benefited from 88% (22-of-25) shooting at the free-throw line to further power their efforts. Meanwhile, the defense limited HSU (1-3) to just six attempts from beyond the arc, of which the Reddies converted just one.
