Women's Soccer faces UCO in MIAA Tournament Quarterfinal

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State makes its 13th consecutive trip to the MIAA Women's Soccer Tournament on Sunday where they will see in-state rivals Central Oklahoma in the Quarterfinals at 1 p.m.  The RiverHawks qualified as the tournament's No. 5 seed with UCO as the No. 4.

The meeting is the third in the MIAA Tournament with Central claiming the regular season meeting on Oct. 25 (2-0) in Edmond.

Northeastern State (13-5) went 7-5 in MIAA play, finishing with a four-match shutout streak. For their efforts, the team had four All-MIAA selections, highlighted by Sydney Taylor, who was a First-Team selection. Kamari Jefferson and Whitney Gentry were Second-Team honorees, and Rebecca Partyka earned an Honorable Mention nod.

13 victories are tied for third-most in a season in program history and match a regular season high.

Central Oklahoma (10-5-3) is second in the MIAA this season, with 2.2 goals per match, and leads the association with 9.1 shots on goal per match.  Due to rainfall, the contest is being played at Chad Richison Stadium.

Unlike the regular season, overtime and the golden goal are back in effect in the tournament.

The winner will face top-seeded Washburn or No. 8 seed Fort Hays in the tournament quarterfinals in Wichita, Kansas on November 14.
