Men's Soccer tops Harding 5-3

SEARCY, Ark. – Northeastern State seniors Donovan Aparicio and Assanie Brown landed goals in their final match as the RiverHawks beat Harding 5-3 on Saturday afternoon.  Brown matched his season goal total with strikes to the back of the net in the 67th and 72nd minutes.

The victory snapped a five-week drought for the RiverHawks with their goal total being a season high.

Northeastern State was the attacking squad across the match out-shooting Harding 27-to-9.  They landed 17 shots on goal which was a season high, passing their previous best by five.

Aparicio picked up a through ball from Javier Solis through the left side in the 19th minute to give NSU the early 1-nil advantage.   Harding got an equalizer seven minutes later and the match remained tied until Carter Adams scored his first career goal in the 47th minute on a cross from Joshua Adeyemi.

Brown extended the lead to 3-1 before Harding scored their second of the match in the 70th minute.   Any momentum by Harding stopped with Carl Murch and Brown netting goals in the following two minutes.  The pair scored their goals within a 34-second separation.

Harding (2-13-3, 2-10 GAC/MIAA) netted its third and final goal in the 84 minute.

Miguel Carrasquinho had a foot on two assists and Luis Felipe Karam had the pass on Murch's goal.

The RiverHawks swept the regular season series with Harding and have won ten consecutive against the Bison.

NSU closes their season with a 3-8-7 overall mark and 3-5-4 in GAC/MIAA play.
