Woods earns Don Hansen All-American honors

BROOKFIELD, Ill. - Northeastern State junior tight end Cameron Woods earned Don Hansen NCAA Division II First Team All-America accolades Friday.

Woods is the first All-American for the program since 2018 after pacing the RiverHawks with 573 reception yards and catching seven touchdown passes.  He averaged 52.09 yards per game and led an offense that scored 41 touchdowns, its most since 2011.

As an NCAA Division II Independent, Woods was not eligible for any conference honors making the All-America accolade more difficult to obtain.

Woods is the 95th All-American in NSU football history with 2011 being the most recent First Team selection.

"Very proud of Cam earning All-American honors," said head coach Darrin Chiaverini.  "He developed quickly into one of our top offensive weapons, led our team in touchdown receptions, and is one of the most explosive tight ends in the country! Excited to see what he does next year!"

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's NationalWeekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
