SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Northeastern State suffered a road loss Saturday, falling 84-66 to Drury in a non-conference matchup at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
The RiverHawks (5-6) struggled to keep pace with Drury (7-3), who outscored NSU 44-20 in the opening two quarters to establish a commanding lead at intermission.
Northeastern State found more offensive openings in the second half, converting on 15 tries for a combined 46 points. The RiverHawks suffered the 18-point defeat after allowing the Panthers to shoot 53.4% (31-of-58) from the floor. NSU struggled with turnovers, committing 17, which Drury converted into 21 points. Drury also controlled the glass, out-rebounding the visiting side 40-37, including 34 defensive boards that limited second-chance opportunities.
The RiverHawks were led by Annaston Brown, who tallied 11 points, including three three-pointers, and Deyanna Douglas, who added nine points and five rebounds.
Northeastern State wraps up the calendar year by hosting Kansas Wesleyan at the NSU Event Center on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m.
