TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State women's tennis continues non-conference action with three opponents, with a road test against Southeastern Oklahoma before hosting McPherson and Arkansas-Fort Smith to conclude the week.
The Setup
- Northeastern State is led by
Tim McLane in his fourth season at the helm. McLane and the RiverHawks will look for another big season after being one game away from an MIAA tournament championship in 2023. Before coming to Tahlequah, McLane was with the USC Upstate program for four seasons (2017-20), including two as the head coach (2018-20). McLane was also an assistant at Mercer for three seasons (2014-16).
- The RiverHawks claimed a victory on Feb. 10 in their 2024 opener against Southwest Baptist in Edmond, Okla. In a 4-3 win, the team finished with four singles victories courtesy of
Andrea Vargas,
Tegan Heaton,
Valeria Teran and
Sandra Mari Marti. The duo of Teran and
Leah Gonzales-Edwards also won a doubles contest against the Bobcats.
- This week's slate resumes a non-conference schedule that continues through most of March. The RiverHawks enter conference action on Mar. 30 against Missouri Western.
