Football adds 37 on National Signing Day

TAHLEQUAH – The Northeastern State football program and head coach Darrin Chiaverini added a total of 37 student-athletes on 2024 National Signing Day. 

Chiaverni and the football staff built the class together in a month with 27 as an incoming freshman and 10 transfers.  

"Extremely excited to sign my first recruiting class at Northeastern State University," said Chiaverini.  "Building a class in four weeks was very challenging but our staff went to work and did an unbelievable job of evaluating and developing relationships quickly. Our class had a great mixture of Junior College and High School Athletes from Oklahoma, Texas, California, Arkansas, and Utah."

"We added size, skill, and speed to both sides of the ball. The freshman class we signed is a great foundation for the future of NSU Football. We Welcome our 2024 Class to the "Quah"

Jordan Barnes DT 6'1 295 Tulsa, Okla. Will Rogers HS
Was a monster in the middle for the Ropers, with 24 tackles for loss and 4 sacks.  He was named 5A-4 All-District MVP and Defensive Lineman of the Year.
Rashaud Brown OL 6'4 290 Kilgore, Texas Kilgore HS
He was named All-District as a Senior and helped Kilgore run for an amazing 3012 yards! He's a massive athlete who will help the RiverHawks dominate up front!
Taimane Brown SAF 5'11 185 South Jordan, Utah West HS
Earned First Team All-Region player honors from the state of Utah. Defensive playmaker who had 112 TKLS 5 Sacks 9 QB Hurries 1 INT 1 FF 2 FR  1 Blocked Punt.
Zion Brown CB 6'0 170 The Colony, Texas Colony HS
Brown received All-District honors totaling 105 tackles 2 Interceptions 1 forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries!! Zion is a physical player that is a force all over the field!
Teyton Chandler LB 6'1 205 Tulsa, Okla. Victory Christian HS
An electric Linebacker coming from Victory Christian High School. Teyton is an All-State Linebacker who finishes his career as the All-Time Tackling Leader in Oklahoma history with 650!
Howard Crowder OL 6'3 260 Dallas, Texas Kimball HS
He's a great athlete who helped Kimball run for 5.1 yards per carry! He brings quick feet and an edge to the RiverHawk OL!
Braylen Danzy WR 6'3 180 Tulsa, Okla. Tulsa Union HS
A 6'3 180 180-pound Wide Receiver coming from Union High School in Tulsa. The All-State WR is a big-time playmaker staying HOME!
Levon Davis OL 6'4 349 Lancaster, Texas Lancaster HS
He was named All-District as a Senior and an incredible athlete who is going to help NSU Football dominate the trenches!
Brenden Fortenberry LB 6'0 180 Tulsa, Okla. Tulsa Central HS
Shined on both sides of the ball for the Braves, leading the offense with both his arm and his legs at quarterback in addition to leading the defensive unit in the middle.
Caleb Griffin OL 6'1 300 McKinney, Texas Emerson HS
He was named All-District as a Senior and helped Emerson run for 4,277 yards! He's a true center who brings dominant talent and leadership to the RiverHawk OL!
Ayden Guess DE 6'4 220 Tulsa, Okla. Tulsa Central HS
A two-way threat for the Braves, Ayden terrorized opposing secondaries as a receiver, in addition to being a game-wrecking presence off the edge on defense.
Braylon Hardrick DE 6'3 220 Bella Vista, Ark. Bentonville HS
He served as a stout run defender as well as a dynamic pass rusher, appearing in 2 state championships during his high school career.
Jason Harris Jr. WR 5'9 170 Fontana, Calif. Centennial HS
A 3-star WR coming from Centennial High School in Corona Calif. Jason was a First team All Baseline Receiver and accounted for over 2,000 yards for the California High School Perennial powerhouse!
Hudson Henslcik WR 5'9 160 Collinsville, Okla. Collinsville HS
An Explosive Athlete / Wide Receiver from Collinsville High School, he recorded back-to-back 1000-yard receiving seasons.  In addition to his football accolades, Hudson is also a state-champion wrestler.
Matheus Machado WR 5'10 170 McKinney, Texas Emerson HS
An Explosive Wide Receiver from Texas!! He will add great speed and quickness and was named an All-Conference Receiver!
Rodney Malone WR 5'11 170 Red Oak, Texas Red Oak HS
An explosive WR coming from Red Oak High School in Texas. Rodney is also a 4x1 State Champion and clocked a 10.6 in the 100-meter dash!
Amir McDowell RB 5'9 180 Allen, Texas Allen HS
He brings 4.4 speed to the RiverHawks, which he used to amass 879 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns with an explosive 6.9-yard average for the Eagles. 
Ramon McKinney Jr. QB 5'10 180 Dallas, Texas Waxahachie HS
A dynamic QB from Waxahachie HS in Texas. The All-District QB led his team into the playoffs with 1,000 Rushing yards and 1,000 Passing yards!!
Dae'Mar Nealy ATH 5'8 180 Tulsa, Okla. Tulsa Union HS
Nealy is a team captain that played all over the field gaining over 250 total yards and more than 40 tackles. Dae'Mar also received the "2023 Heart of a Champion award" from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma.
Michael Parker SAF 5'10 165 DeSoto, Texas Cedar Hill HS
Comesfrom Cedar Hill High School is a physical defensive back with great range from the safety position and is an enforcer setting the edge of the NSU defense.
Travon Rhinehart LB 6'3 210 Dallas, Texas Kimball HS
A 6'3 210 pound Linebacker coming from Kimball High School. The First Team district LB plays sideline to sideline and led the Knights to the playoffs.
LJ Robins WR 5'11 170 Fort Smith, Texas Greenwood HS
Capped off his high school career with 79 receptions, 1016 yards, and 17 touchdowns.  LJ was a major contributor to the Bulldogs' 2023 state title and an All-State selection.
Ben Schug OL 6'5 300 Southlake, Texas Prestonwood Christian
Helped Prestonwood run for 6.1 yards per carry. He's a talented OL who's only scratched the surface of his potential! The RiverHawks OL just got better!
Cooper Snyder LB 6'2 195 Frisco, Texas Wakeland HS
A great athlete who was voted team captain. On Offense Snyder rushed for 1,520 yards and 18 touchdowns. On Defense, he totaled 32 tackles and 4 sacks. Cooper also received First Team All-District honors this year!
Grayson Swafford OL 6'5 250 Tulsa, Okla. Lincoln Christian
He helped lead the team to a 14-0 record and a State Championship! He's a multi-sport athlete who brings great athletic ability to the RiverHawk OL!
Jaden Trawick RB 5'10 180 DeSoto, Texas DeSoto HS
A BIG TIME Running Back from DeSoto High School in Texas. The "Trackhawk" is a back-to-back state champion and is bringing a winning culture to Tahlequah!
Dequincy Wilson SAF 6'1 180 Elaine, Ark. Barton HS
An all-conference athlete out of Barton Arkansas. A supreme two-way player, Wilson gained over 600 yards from scrimmage along with ten touchdowns. On defense, Wilson amassed 115 tackles in two seasons along with six interceptions.

Danny is a smooth route runner that can FLY down the field.
Tyron Bates WR 5'11 180 Lakewood, Calif. Eastern Michigan
At Cerritos Community College, Bates served as their deep threat averaging 38.7 yards per catch and amassing over 700 yards of total offense and a threat to score from all over the field!
Ashun Brown WR 5'11 175 Long Beach, Calif. Long Beach City College (Calif.)
An electric WR from Long Beach City College in California. This All-Conference Receiver was a Team Captain and brings real speed to NSU with his 21-yards-per-catch average
Malaki Brown OL 6'5 310 Oxnard, Calif. Ventura CC (Calif.)
He helped VC run for 2,726 yards and 5.7 yards per carry! He is a dynamic athlete who brings great versatility to the NSU OL!
Jay Caldwell WR 6'1 200 Commerce, Texas Long Beach City College (Calif.)
In the 2023 season, Caldwell averaged 16 yards per catch and totaled 7 touchdowns. Caldwell was 1st team All Purpose  who earned Team Offensive MVP
Clavon Caine LB 6'3 230 Long Beach, Calif. Western New Mexico
In his 2022 season, Caine tallied 38 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries in just 6 games played!
Dereun Dortch QB 5'10 185 Hemet, Calif. Chaffey CC (Calif.)
A JC Gridiron All-American that led Chaffey to an Undefeated 11-0 Record! Dortch accounted for over 3000 total yards and 35 Touchdowns! Dereun was voted American Metro Conference MVP and the American Bowl Championship MVP!
Dedric Luton CB 5'10 165 Long Beach, Calif. Western New Mexico
A Florida native, Luton had 18 tackles, 1 interception, and 5 kick returns for 91 yards in his 2022 season!
Devin McLee TE 6'2 215 Fontana, Calif. Chaffey CC (Calif.)
Was a stalwart at the point of attack in the run game and an athletic threat as a pass catcher for the Panthers, helping them to achieve an 11-0 record. 
Julio Rey OL 6'4 340 Ventura, Calif. Ventura CC (Calif.)
Two-time All-Conference Guard from Ventura College. He is an absolute road grader who helped the Pirates run for 2,726 yards and 5.7 yards per game!
