EL DORADO, Ark. – Cole Waymire took fourth place at the Arkansas Collegiate and was in the hunt for his first medalist crown until the final hole Tuesday. The freshman was tied for the lead with four others before landing a bogey on the 18th pin to shoot a 151 (74-77).
Southern Arkansas' Caleb Miller landed a birdie on the 18th to break up a four-way tie for the individual lead forcing Waymire to play aggressively on the last pin in hopes of pulling back even.
Northeastern State remained where they started the day in second place overall shooting a 627 (310-317). The RiverHawks paced the 12-team field with 21 birdies and had 78 pars.
Brett Wilcoxen was the second-highest finishing NSU golfer and was tied for 20th place shooting a 159 (80-79). Will Livermore (79-81) and Gabe Replogle (80-80) each scored 160 and were tied for 25th. Parker Rose was tied for 38th overall shooting a 165 (77-88).
Southern Arkansas extended its lead to 20 strokes and took its own tournament crown with a 607.
The RiverHawks head next to the Shangri-La Golf Club to play in the RSU Hillcat Classic on April 1-2.
