Softball visits Rogers State on Saturday

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State Softball makes its shortest trek of the season on Saturday for an MIAA doubleheader at No. 3 Rogers State.

The RiverHawks (5-12)  snapped a three-game skid on Tuesday with a 1-0 win at Southeastern Oklahoma behind a complete game shutout from Madison Heinle.  The junior also had the game-winning sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.  Weather south of Durant prevented the pair from playing the nightcap.

Heading into the weekend, Macie Sawney and Addy Wolfe have three-game hitting streaks.  Brynn Burchfield had reached base in five consecutive games and has a .411 on-base percentage.  Emily Sampson has five multi-hit games and a team-best ten RBI.

Rogers State (16-4) holds a six-game winning streak with their pitching staff holding teams to a .212 batting average.  The Hillcats have allowed just two home runs and have struck out 125 batters.

The overall series is even through 22 games.  Rogers State has won nine of the last ten contests with the RiverHawks' most recent win at Claremore coming in 2017.

First pitch is anticipated at noon with both games being streamed on TheMIAANetwork.com.
