KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northeastern State's Sandra Mari Marti earned the eighth Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week award for the 2024 season. 

Mari Marti went 4-0 for the RiverHawks last weekend as they beat Fort Hays State and No. 28-ranked Nebraska Kearney in MIAA action. The sophomore was the match-clinching point for the RiverHawks at No. 3 singles, battling back from a 5-4 third-set deficit to win 7-5. Mari Marti also collected a pair of doubles wins at the No. 3 position and recorded a 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 victory at No. 2 singles against the Tigers. 

Northeastern State's win over UNK snapped a seven-match win streak for the Lopers and handed UNK its first MIAA loss of the season.
