Women's Tennis visits Northwest Missouri, Washburn

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State Women's Tennis makes its second to last regular season road trip this weekend to No. 19 Northwest Missouri and No. 14 Washburn.

The RiverHawks are winners of its previous two MIAA matches holding a 2-1 mark in league play and are 7-4 overall.  

Sandra Mari Marti is the most recent MIAA Athlete of the Week and has won her previous three singles and six doubles matches. Valeria Teran and Andrea Vargas have won eight of the last ten singles matches. 

Northwest Missouri (17–1, 3-0 MIAA) will enter the weekend on a seven-game winning streak and has won its previous 14 home regular season matches.  The last time NSU and Northwest faced each other was in the MIAA Tournament Semifinal with the RiverHawks upsetting the top-seeded Bearcats 4-3.

Washburn (12-3, 2-1 MIAA) will see Central Oklahoma on Friday before hosting the RiverHawks on the following day.  The Ichabods' lone loss in MIAA play came at Northwest Missouri 5-2 and they have won their previous seven home contests.  Northeastern State last faced Washburn in the MIAA Tournament Championship last season with the Ichabods edging them late 4-3.
