KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northeastern State fired off a 288 in Wednesday's final round of the MIAA Men's Golf Championship and finished in third place shooting an 897 (299-310-288). The RiverHawks turned in the second-lowest round of the day shooting a 4-over-par score to earn its second consecutive top-3 finish at the MIAA Championship.
Will Livermore entered the day tied for the lead and took home a second-place tie with a 220 (72-74-74). The freshman finished his final eight pins with a 1-under score but couldn't overcome four bogeys on the front nine.
Parker Rose turned in the second-lowest score of the day with an even 71 and moved upward five spots to take a sixth-place tie shooting a 222. The Stigler, Okla. native held the Championship's lowest scoring average on par 3s.
Brett Wilcoxen was one of four golfers to shoot an under-par score on Wednesday with a 70 and moved up 14 spots on the leaderboard and took a 14th-place tie with a 226 (78-78-70).
Gabe Replogle had a 233 (77-79-77) and was tied for 31st place and
Cole Waymire took a 38th place tie with a 236 (80-83-73).
Missouri Southern claimed its second consecutive MIAA Men's Golf Championship with Southern's Luis Limon taking medalist honors by three strokes.
The RiverHawks were not among the 11 teams in the most recent NCAA Central Region Poll, thus making it unlikely they will be selected for their 20th national postseason appearance. However, the team's finish at the MIAA Championship could add to its resume for selection which takes place on Friday, April 26.
