BOLIVAR, Mo. -- With one round in the rear view, Northeastern State leads the 11-team ladder at the MIAA Women's Championship with a 303 across the day's work at Silo Ridge Country Club.
The RiverHawks lead by four strokes over second-place Rogers State (307), while Central Missouri (309) rounds out the top three. More than ten strokes behind are fourth-place Central Oklahoma (314) and fifth-place Missouri Southern (315).
Ines Diaz highlights NSU's work individually, tallying an even score on the par-72 course across Monday's action. The freshman landed the tournament's lone eagle of the opening round on the fifth hole and continued the strong day with a birdie on the 14th. Adding a team-best 14 pars, her individual result is tied alongside Central Missouri's Hayley Jones for the lowest score among participants.
Jess Parker sits tied for fourth with a 76, guided by tying for second among participants with three birdies.
Marybeth Bellnap accounts for the third NSU player in the event's top ten, tying for sixth across Monday's action with a 77.
Yasmin Hang shot a 78 to rank just outside the top ten among individual participants in a tie for 12th, while
Sam Maceli wrapped up the first of the three-day event carding an 84.
The MIAA Women's Championship continues with its second round tomorrow.
