RiverHawks take third at MIAA Women's Golf Championship

 BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Behind a 309 in the final round of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Women's Golf Championship, Northeastern State dipped a spot on the leaderboard and claimed a third-place finish, shooting a 918 (303-306-309). 

The RiverHawks turned in the highest score among the top-five teams and finished 11 back of the lead.

Marybeth Bellnap claimed NSU's lone under-par score on the front nine, which was an eagle on the eighth pin. With a nine-over-par score on the front half of the course, NSU could not recover its day. 

Bellnap claimed the top finish for the NSU golfers with a 228 (77-75-76) and was tied for seventh place. She was five strokes back of medalist with 28 pars in the 54-hole tournament. 

Ines Diaz spent all three days inside the top fifth of the field and took a tenth-place tie, scoring a 229 (72-77-80).  Yasmin Hang (78-75-79) and Jessica Parker (76-79-77) were tied for 16th place, shooting a 232.

Sam Maceli took 36th shooting a 243 (84-82-77). 

Central Missouri claimed the MIAA's Championship with Rogers State placing second overall.  Nebraska-Kearney's Juliana Botero Molina took top individual honors with a 223 score. 

The RiverHawks head next to the NCAA Central Regional on May 6-8 in Bartlesville.
