Women's Tennis returns home this Weekend

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State women's tennis returns home this weekend to host Fort Hays State and No. 28 ranked Nebraska-Kearney.

The RiverHawks (5-4, 0-1 MIAA) last played on March 30 and took a 4-3 road setback to then-ranked No. 29 Missouri Western in their MIAA opener. 

Valeria Teran has been ranked as high as No. 72 nationally in singles and has won nine of her last ten matches.  Andrea Vargas is 6-1 at No. 6 singles this spring and Sandra Mari Marti is 10-5 overall in singles and 15-4 in doubles. 

Saturday's match with Fort Hays State is K9s at the Courts.  Fans can get a free bag of match-used tennis balls for bringing their dog and staying until the end of the contest.  Hot dogs provided by Mountain View Meat Company will also be served to fans in attendance.   First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. with the Tigers who are 6-6 (0-2 MIAA) overall. 

The RiverHawks will get another ranked test on Sunday with No. 28 Nebraska-Kearney visiting.  The Lopers are 11-3 (2-0 MIAA) and finished sixth place in the ITA D2 National Indoor Championship in February.  Northeastern State won last season's meeting 4-3 in Kearney and holds a 14-1 series lead.  First serve on Sunday is at 10 a.m.
