EDMOND, Okla. - Northeastern State's run at the MIAA Women's Tennis Tournament ended Saturday with a 4-0 semifinal loss to No. 34 Missouri Western.
The prolonged match started at 10 a.m. and had a three-hour delay due to a midday shower. At the time of the pause, Missouri Western (16-3) took the doubles point and held first-set wins on two courts.
When play resumed, Northeastern State's luck didn't change and the Griffons needed 45 minutes to close out the match. Missouri Western claimed court five and minutes later both three and two to clinch the match. Alisha Moldakhmetova was up 6-4, 4-4 on court one and Tegan Heaton held an advantage on court six (6-3, 4-3).
Northeastern State's season concludes with a 10-8 overall mark and its tenth consecutive appearance in the MIAA Postseason.
