BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Northeastern State slipped to seventh place following two rounds of play at the NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional in Bartlesville shooting a 627 (312-315).
The RiverHawks and participating teams endured an eventful evening after a tornado ripped through the city overnight. Northeastern State took shelter at the Hillcrest Country Club basement locker room minutes before part of the city was overtaken by Monday's storm and remained there for some time following.
When the sun rose on Tuesday morning, course officials spent much of the day cleaning and forcing a four-hour delay.
Jessica Parker paced NSU for the second consecutive day with a 79 and slipped to an 11th-place tie with a 152. Presently she is three strokes back from the cutline to advance as an individual to the NCAA National Championship.
Marybeth Bellnap carried the RiverHawks through 12 pins and was even on the day. She finished the round shooting a six-over-par and has a 155 (77-78) good for a 19th-place tie.
Ines Diaz has a 160 (82-78), Yasmin Hang is one back of her (80-81), and Sam Maceli shot a 162 (82-80).
The RiverHawks will have a tall hill to climb for Wednesday's final round and are 16 strokes back of the cutline to the national championship. Northeastern State will be paired with Central Oklahoma and Minnesota State at 10 a.m. on the tenth tee.
