EDMOND, Okla. — Cole Waymire highlighted Northeastern State's production on the opening day of the NCAA Super Regionals, netting a 66 to tie for third among individuals, while NSU's score of a 284 ranks them in a tie for tenth among teams.
Waymire logged a team-best six birdies, while his ten pars sat third on the roster behind Brett Wilcoxen and Gabe Replogle (12 each).
The freshman's place on the individual leaderboard places him in the advancing category, as he is one of the top two performers outside of the top five teams. Waymire will need to maintain his placing among the top two unless the RiverHawks finish in the top five as a group.
"I feel like I played pretty solid. Overall, I'm really happy," Waymire said, adding "I was a little nervous coming out here as a freshman, but finishing on 18 felt really good, posting a good number. It helped the guys out, and hopefully I'll do the same tomorrow."
Parker Rose and Wilcoxen tied for second on the team with a 71 apiece. Replogle carded a 76, while Will Livermore was not far behind with a 77.
The second round of the event begins tomorrow at KickingBird Golf Course.
