Kansas City, Mo. – For the third consecutive season, Northeastern State University student-athletes were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court Monday. RiverHawks that were among the honorees included
Tyler Cornwell,
Ryan Gendron,
Jaxon Jones and Marcus Scott.
The program earned the NABC Team Excellence Award for the second consecutive season with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Northeastern State again ranks as the lone program out of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) honored after being the only MIAA recipient last season.
Northeastern State also had the most student-athletes recognized among the five MIAA schools with individual recipients. Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri netted three on the Honors Court, while Washburn and Central Oklahoma had two apiece. In total, 14 MIAA student-athletes were honored.
To be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically and a varsity player; earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year; must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution; and the institution must be a member of NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA with an NABC member coach.
