TAHLEQUAH - Northeastern State football takes the stage on Wednesday, Aug. 14 for its official Media Day inside the Community Room of the NSU Event Center. The event occurs in tandem with the NSU Quarterback Club meeting.
The RiverHawks are an NCAA Division II football independent under first-year head coach
Darrin Chiaverini. NSU is one of just two football programs this fall in NCAA Division II that will play independently and will do so through the 2026 season. Chiaverini went 11-0 last season at Chaffey College (Calif.) winning the American Metro Conference and American Division Bowl. He was a fifth-round selection by the Cleveland Browns in the 1999 National Football League Draft and played for the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys.Â
