Women's Soccer slated for eighth in MIAA Preseason Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northeastern State Women's Soccer is picked to finish in eighth place in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), according to a preseason poll released on Friday morning by association officials.

The RiverHawks claimed 77 points in the poll, while Washburn earned nine first-place votes en route to a first-place projection with 137 points. Central Missouri got three first-place votes with a second-place ranking at 131 points. Fort Hays State (112 points), Northwest Missouri (99) and Emporia State (98) rounded out the top five.

Missouri Western grabbed a single first-place endorsement and placed sixth in the preseason poll with 86 points, with Central Oklahoma four points back with 82 in seventh. Placing behind Northeastern and rounding out the top ten were Rogers State (58) and Nebraska-Kearney (46). 

Pittsburg State had 39 points and received an 11th-place projection for their inaugural season, while Newman (29) and Missouri Southern (20) ranked 12th and 13th, respectively. 

Northeastern State enters the 2024 campaign off of a 6-9-4 record from the previous year. The RiverHawks begin their season on Sep. 6 in Arkadelphia, Ark. against Ouachita Baptist.
