Men's Soccer to begin GAC/MIAA schedule at home this week

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State exits non-conference action and enters association soccer with the beginning of their GAC/MIAA schedule this week at home with meetings against Harding and Ouachita Baptist.

History with the Bisons
Across 28 meetings in the all-time series, the RiverHawks have claimed 27, with the lone exception being a loss in Searcy, Ark. to the Bisons in 2019. Notably, the RiverHawks have not surrendered a goal to HU in their last six meetings.

Scouting the Bisons (0-3-2)
  • Harding enters GAC/MIAA play winless after drawing with Dallas Baptist last Thursday (1-1) and taking a loss at UT Tyler (4-1) on Saturday.
  • The Bisons have 17 newcomers on the 2024 roster after losing their two All-Region talents from a season ago in Jonah Pastiroff and Stafano Silva.
  • HU was picked to finish sixth in the GAC/MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.

History with the Tigers
The RiverHawks are 22-3-1 against the Tigers in the all-time series, most recently logging a goalless draw in Tahlequah last November. NSU has an unbeaten streak of 12 matches against OBU, only allowing six goals in that span. 

Scouting the Tigers (1-3-1)
  • The team plays their conference opener against Rogers State in Claremore on Thursday night after earning their first victory since Sep. 24, 2022 last Wednesday against Austin College (1-0).
  • Limited to two goals in five matches, João Gonçalves and Alexis Murillo have logged makes this season. 
  • The Tigers were picked seventh in the GAC/MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll entering their first season under head men's soccer coach Wes Holifield.
