TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State begins MIAA action in women's soccer on the road, facing #9 Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo. on Friday night before traveling to Maryville, Mo. to battle Northwest Missouri Sunday afternoon.
The RiverHawks enter the week as the fourth-ranked team in the Central Region, according to
the latest United Soccer Coaches poll. The team also boasts the reigning MIAA Offensive Player of the Week in
Hannah Anderson, who netted a pair of goals last week against East Central in a 2-0 win.
History with the Jennies
Central Missouri has earned 15 victories across 18 meetings in the all-time series, including eight straight wins.
Scouting the Jennies (3-2-1)
- After claiming three straight decisions to open the season, UCM enters conference action on a three-match winless streak, losing to #2 Grand Valley State (2-1) and #16 Dallas Baptist (1-0) and drawing with Oklahoma Baptist (0-0). The recent results caused UCM to drop five spots in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll.
- Caroline Cole is part of a three-way tie for the MIAA lead in goals (four) entering this week. The two-time D2CCA All-American and three-time All-MIAA First Team selection has 24 goals across her UCM career.
- The Jennies were picked second in the MIAA in the Preseason Coaches Poll, earning three first-place votes after winning eight of 11 MIAA matches a year ago.
History with the Bearcats
The RiverHawks are 10-6-1 all-time against the Bearcats. NWMSU has earned wins in the last two contests between the teams, keeping NSU off the scoreboard in both meetings.
Scouting the Bearcats (2-1-3)
- The Bearcats travel to St. Joseph to face Missouri Western on Wednesday before hosting NSU on Sunday afternoon.
- After drawing with #2 Grand Valley State (1-1) and #15 Minnesota State (0-0), Northwest Missouri got back on the winning end with a 1-0 victory over Augustana in Sioux Falls, S.D. last Wednesday. The team's lone loss so far was a 3-2 setback on Sep. 7 against UMSL in Topeka, Kan.
- Northwest Missouri was picked fourth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll after returning five of six All-MIAA recipients from the previous season, including former MIAA Goalkeeper of the Year Lily Ellis.
