RiverHawks top Ouachita Baptist, 3-0

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Northeastern State limited Ouachita Baptist to six shots and controlled its season opener 3-0 on Friday afternoon.

The RiverHawks' offense landed 21 shot attempts on the preseason pick to win the Great American Conference and a squad that went to the NCAA Tournament last season.

NSU was gifted a goal in the 23rd minute off a corner kick from Sydney Taylor.  A bounce off an Ouachita defender allowed the ball to cleanly find a gap in the left corner of the goal.

A thunderstorm halted play with under 90 seconds left in the first half, and both teams had to sit and wait for nearly an hour to wrap up action.

When play resumed, Olivia Kucharyski extended the lead in the 48th minute with their first team goal of the season scoring on a breakaway.  Whitney Gentry netted the team's third tally of the afternoon on a pass from Taylor in the 62nd minute.

Rebecca Partyka had four saves and earned her 11th career shutout for the RiverHawks who won their seventh consecutive at Ouachita.

The RiverHawks return to play on Sunday at 1 p.m. to host Harding for their home opener.
