KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its preseason coaches poll for the 2025 women's tennis season. Northeastern State is picked to finish in eighth place with 32 points.
The RiverHawks reached the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinal for the second consecutive season in 2024 finishing with a 10-8 overall record and a 4-4 MIAA mark. Northeastern State will have a new roster with two letter winners from last season's squad returning.
Washburn was selected as the top team in the league by MIAA head coaches for the second consecutive season. The Ichabods collected 78 points and most of the first-place votes in the 2025 MIAA preseason coaches poll.
Nebraska-Kearney was picked second by MIAA head coaches with 72 points and one first-place selection. Central Oklahoma tabbed the No. 3 spot in the poll with 61 points and the remaining first place vote while Missouri Western was selected fourth with 55 points. Northwest Missouri concluded the coaches' top five with 54 points.
Emporia State is tabbed sixth with 38 points and Newman is seventh with 33. Arkansas-Fort Smith and Fort Hays State rounded out the final two teams in the poll.
The RiverHawks open their season on Feb. 1 where they will host Southeastern Oklahoma.
