TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --
Carter Adams buried the game-winner in the 83rd minute to lift Northeastern State past Harding 1-0 on Wednesday night at DeLoache Field.
Adams, who netted his team-leading fifth goal of the season, struck late off a flurry of RiverHawks pressure to break a scoreless deadlock. NSU (4-3-2, 1-2 GAC/MIAA) controlled much of the match with a 13-8 edge in shots and a decisive 12-1 margin in corner kicks.
Goalkeeper
Cameron McColloch recorded three saves for his third shutout of the season, keeping Harding (2-6-1, 0-3 GAC/MIAA) off the board despite three shots on frame. Bison keeper Caden Morris tallied two saves to keep his side in contention, but NSU's late strike proved the difference.
The rivalry win extended Northeastern State's dominance in the series. The RiverHawks have now beaten Harding 11 straight times and remain a perfect 17-0 at home against the Bison.
The victory also gave NSU its first conference win of the season while snapping a two-match skid.
Northeastern State continues league play Saturday with a 6 p.m. home match against Ouachita Baptist in GAC/MIAA action.
