RiverHawks Head to Kansas for Weekend MIAA Matches

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State women's soccer team heads to Kansas this week to face Washburn at 6 p.m. Friday before closing out its road trip at Emporia State at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The RiverHawks (6-4-1, 1-3-1 MIAA) have been shut out in their last two matches but rank third among MIAA teams with 15.36 shots per game. Goalkeeper Rebecca Partyka is third in the conference with an .850 save percentage.

With seven regular-season matches remaining, the RiverHawks are tied with four other teams for eighth place in the MIAA standings. The top eight teams advance to the conference tournament at the end of the regular season. NSU is seeking its 14th consecutive tournament appearance.

History with the Ichabods
  • The RiverHawks hold a 7-3-3 series lead on Washburn and are 3-1-1 in Topeka. 
  • Washburn is 3-1-3 since knocking out the RiverHawks in the 2017 MIAA Tournament Quarterfinal in Tahlequah. 
Scouting the Ichabods
  • Washburn's (7-2-2, 4-0-1 MIAA) defense has six shutouts in the previous seven matches, with its lone blemish being a goal to Missouri Southern on Oct. 10 in Joplin.
  • Leah Henke is second in the MIAA with eight goals.  The freshman had a hat trick at Missouri Southern.

  • In 18 matches, the series is split at 8-8-2.
  • Emporia State (7-3-1, 4-0-1 MIAA) holds a 6-3 lead when hosting the RiverHawks and has won five consecutive games against NSU. 
Scouting the Hornets
  • Heading into the week, Emporia State has not lost in its previous six matches and is 3-0 at home. 
  • The Hornets are third in the MIAA, scoring 2.1 goals per game.  True freshman Ella Favot leads ESU with five goals
