RiverHawks Set to Face Ouachita Baptist, Harding for Road Matches

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Northeastern State men's soccer team will leave Oklahoma for the final time in the regular season this week, facing Ouachita Baptist on Wednesday and Harding on Saturday evening.

The RiverHawks (6-5-2, 3-4 GAC/MIAA) were edged last week by Rogers State and Fort Hays State. They currently hold a one-point lead over Newman for fourth place in the GAC/MIAA standings and trail Southern Nazarene by one point for third.

Carter Adams is tied for second in the GAC/MIAA with seven goals this season. The sophomore ranks second among league players with 15 shots on goal and has been credited with two game-winners.

History with the Tigers
  • NSU extended their unbeaten streak against Ouachita Baptist to fifteen matches with a 4-0 win a couple of weeks ago.
  • The RiverHawks have held the Tigers scoreless in four consecutive matches OBU.
Scouting the Tigers
  • OBU (2-7-3, 1-5-1 GAC/MIAA) drew against #14 Rogers State, which followed a 2-1 win over Harding.
  • Forward Nathan Buwemi leads the program in goals and points, one of those goals being the one needed for their 1-1 Rogers State draw.

History with the Bison
  • Northeastern State leads the overall series 30-1 over the Bison and are 13-1 as the visiting team.
  • The Bisons' latest matchup with the RiverHawks resulted in a 1-0 victory for NSU, as Carter Adams' late goal being the decider.
Scouting the Bison
  • NSU is Harding's (2-9-2, 0-6-1 GAC/MIAA) lone foe of the week with the Bison winless in its last seven outings. 
  • Harding leads the GAC/MIAA with 27 allowed goals through 13 matches played, ten those came on 5-0 losses to Fort Hays State and Rogers State.
