AFTON, Okla. – Northeastern State wrapped up play at the MSSU Fall Invitational on Sunday, finishing eigth overall with a team score of 903 (307-297-299) at the Shangri-La Resort.
Will Livermore led the RiverHawks, tying for ninth individually with a 4-over-par 220 (77-73-70). He carded 13 birdies across the three-round tournament, tied for the third most in the field.
Mateo Castro tied for 34th at 227 (76-78-73), while
Nathan Biais,
Juan Vergel and
Ian Wilcoxen each tied for 50th at 231. Biais posted rounds of 80-73-78, Vergel shot 78-75-78, and Wilcoxen finished with 76-76-79.
As a team, NSU totaled 20 birdies in the final round and ranked tied for third overall with 46 for the tournament.
"Will had a solid tourney and for the second designated event in a row garnered some individual points," head coach
Scott Varner said. "Top 10 in this strong and big of a field is always good. We beat several teams we needed to beat to keep us mathematically in the hunt for the NCAA bid. We need a good tourney next week to help shore it up a bit going into the spring."
The RiverHawks will close out their fall season Oct. 27-28 at The Tulsa Cup in Broken Arrow.
