TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Northeastern State capped off its Senior Day with a statement, throttling Newman 5-0 on Sunday afternoon at Doc Wadley Stadium after the match was moved from DeLoache Field due to heavy rains in the area.
Sydney Taylor led the RiverHawks with a pair of first-half goals, while Annabella Trotter, Terrin White and Eileen Jeschke each found the back of the net as NSU (8-6-1, 3-5-1 MIAA) recorded its fifth straight shutout over the Jets.
Trotter opened the scoring in the 15th minute before White doubled the lead just over 10 minutes later. Taylor then broke the game open, striking twice in the 43rd and 44th minutes to send the RiverHawks into halftime with a 4-0 cushion. Jeschke added the finishing touch in the 87th minute.
Goalkeepers Rebecca Partyka and Juliette Langlet combined for the clean sheet, turning aside four Newman shots. The RiverHawks outshot the Jets 20-8 and controlled the pace throughout, posting their largest margin of victory over Newman since 1999 in just the second all-time meeting between the programs.
Northeastern State will travel next on Friday, Oct. 31, against Fort Hays State.
