TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State University Head Women's Basketball Coach
Keith Ferguson announced Tuesday the promotion of
Braxtyn Stewart to Associate Head Coach. Stewart has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the RiverHawks.
"Braxtyn has been instrumental in the progress and growth of our program," said Ferguson. "Her positive impact is felt in every area — from recruiting and player development to game preparation. We wouldn't be where we are today without her contributions."
During the 2024–25 season, Stewart helped guide NSU to a regular-season sweep of in-state rival Central Oklahoma, the program's first win over Missouri Southern since 2019, and its first victory at Emporia State's White Auditorium since 2015. She also played a key role in the development of standout players
Alex Hill and
Courtney Lee. Hill reached her 1,000th career point in the win over Emporia State on Jan. 23, while Lee collected her 500th career rebound just two days later in a win against Newman.
In her first season with the RiverHawks, Stewart helped lead the team to its most successful campaign in over a decade — recording the most overall wins since the 2012–13 season and the most home victories since 2011–12.
"Braxtyn's work ethic, dedication, and commitment extend beyond the women's basketball program to the entire NSU community," Ferguson added. "She continues to exemplify excellence and leadership in everything she does."
