PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Despite a standout effort from goalkeeper
Rebecca Partyka, Northeastern State fell 1-0 to Pittsburg State on Sunday afternoon at Gorilla Soccer Pitch.
The Gorillas (8-1-1, 3-0-1 MIAA) broke through in the 11th minute when Ella Cazzavillan netted the match's lone goal, assisted by Abby Hoffman and Carrie Cunningham. Pittsburg State outshot the RiverHawks 23-8, but Partyka kept NSU (6-3-1, 1-2-1) in contention with nine saves.
Sydney Taylor led the RiverHawks with three shots, including two on target, while
Eileen Jeschke and
Hannah Anderson each added one shot on goal.
Pittsburg State goalkeeper Jocelyn Kramar recorded five saves to earn the shutout.
Northeastern State will return home to Tahlequah on Friday, Oct. 10, for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Missouri Western.
