ST. JOSEPH, Mo. –
Ian Wilcoxen holds a two-stroke lead after a rain-shortened opening round of the Holiday Inn Express Invitational on Monday.
The freshman fired a 2-under-par 69, helping the RiverHawks finish one shot back of the lead with a team score of 294 at St. Joseph Country Club.
Minnesota Crookston leads the field by one stroke over Northeastern State. The RiverHawks recorded the second-most pars in the tournament with 56, and
Nathan Biais is tied for the event lead individually with 14 pars.
Biais sits in fourth place after shooting a 73, while
Mateo Castro is one stroke behind him in 11th.
Will Livermore carded a 78, and
Kaden Risenhoover turned in an 82.
Due to inclement weather, the 54-hole tournament has been reduced to 36 holes, with the final round set for Tuesday morning.
