TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The women's soccer season continues for the Northeastern State as they will play Thursday in the MIAA Tournament Semifinals for the fifth time in program history and will face the No. 4 seed Missouri Western State. The remainder of the tournament will be played at the Scheels' Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas.
NSU (12-6-1), which was the No. 8 seed, knocked off the top-seed Pittsburg State 3-2 and was one of three upsets on Sunday in the MIAA Tournament. The top three teams all lost, with MoWest the lone higher seed to advance. The RiverHawks are the first No. 8 seed to win since the 2013 tournament.
Hannah Anderson landed two goals in the second half with
Sydney Taylor assisting twice in the win over the Gorillas. Pittsburg State outshot the RiverHawks 25-to-8, with both of their goals coming in the second half.
Thursday's winner will face Emporia State or Central Oklahoma in the tournament finals on Saturday.

History with the Griffons
- The RiverHawks lead the series 8-5-1 with Thursday being the first meeting on a neutral site.
- MoWest claimed a 1-nil win over NSU in the regular season.
- Northeastern State won the lone 'official' MIAA Tournament match between the two programs in 2015 (1-nil) in Tahlequah. The Griffons advanced on PKs (3-3) in the spring MIAA 2021 tournament, which was an unofficial season for the RiverHawks.

- MoWest (10-2-7) advanced on PKs 4-3 after playing 110 minutes against Northwest Missouri to extend its home unbeaten streak to 21.
