HAYS, Kan. -- Northeastern State saw their GAC/MIAA postseason run end in the semifinals after a 3-1 loss to top-seeded Fort Hays State on Thursday night.
The RiverHawks (8-8-3, 5-6-1 GAC/MIAA) surrendered the match's first two goals to the opposing Tigers (16-0-3, 11-0-1 GAC/MIAA), who connected in the 13th and 16th minutes. NSU would be shut out in the opening half after being limited to two tries.
Carter Adams would cut the Fort Hays State lead in half with a conversion on a penalty kick for his tenth goal of the campaign. It makes him the first individual with at least ten goals since 2022 and the first underclassmen to reach that total since 2019. The 54th-minute make would be NSU's lone form of offensive resistance for the evening, as FHSU would get a multi-score advantage again with a 74th-minute goal.
FHSU owned 20 of 25 shots taken on the night, forcing goalkeeper
Cameron McColloch to collect nine saves over the team's 12 shots on-goal.
Northeastern State awaits their postseason fate at the national level, with the field being announced on the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Selection Show on Monday, Sep. 17 at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com.
