TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State logged their highest-scoring performance since Nov. 16, 2022 in a 113-52 win over Ozark Christian on Tuesday night.
NSU (3-0) led off with the game's first nine points, additionally opening the night on a 19-4 run to immediately break away from the Ambassadors. The RiverHawks would need just four makes from beyond the arc to reach the half-century mark and hold a 32-point advantage (52-20) at the half, shooting 21-of-39 (53.9%) in the first 20 minutes. The hosts would showcase their shooting range in the closing stanza, knocking down ten treys to account for almost half of their 23 conversions across the remaining time.
13 different players checked in during the evening, which had 44 points scored from the second unit. The team also found 56 points in the paint, 48 points on fast breaks and 20 points off of turnovers. Eight different players reached double figures, led by
Nehemiah Weber (19 points).
Harry Neilson and
Dalen Fuller paced the rebounding crew with eight boards each, while NSU would hold a +18 across the night on the glass.
AJ Reed had six assists in the third game of his NSU career and was one of four players with two steals each. As a team, the RiverHawks had 12 steals, their most in a single game since Dec. 5, 2024.
The win gives Northeastern their first 3-0 start since the 2019-20 season, while it is the second straight season and the third time in the Havens era that the RiverHawks have won their first three home games.
NSU returns to the court for a 7 p.m. tipoff against No. 20 Southern Nazarene to continue a season-opening five-game homestand.
