Men's Basketball hosts Mississippi College for N7 Game

TAHLEQUAH — Northeastern State men's basketball returns to the Event Center on Saturday to host Mississippi College for its Nike N7 Game at 1:30 p.m. All tribal citizens will receive free admission by presenting their tribal ID or CDIB card.

Frybread Factory will be set up inside the Event Center, along with various vendors throughout the arena.

Please note that the RiverHawks will play before the women's contest.

After this, the RiverHawks face Missouri State in an exhibition in Springfield, Mo. on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Looking Back
Northeastern State (4-2) suffered a 65-60 defeat to Arkansas Tech on Wednesday in Russellville, Ark. The Riverhawks struggled to a 36.2% (21-of-58) shooting clip, their lowest in a game since Jan. 2, 2025. They were also limited to 3-of-20 shooting from three-point distance, missing all eight of their tries from beyond the arc in the second half.

Taven Washington led the team in scoring (14 points), while Ethan Blackmon matched a career high with 14 rebounds.

About Mississippi College
The Choctaws (3-2) enter off a 95-76 loss to Southern Arkansas on Tuesday. Entering the season off an eight-win campaign the year prior, they were picked 12th in the Gulf South Conference (GSC) Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Choctaws are in their first season under head coach Josh Brooks, who previously spent four seasons at Belhaven in the same role. Brooks was an assistant at MC from 2008-18.

Series History: Saturday marks the first-ever meeting between programs.

About Missouri State
The Bears (3-3) take the court for their third game against NCAA Division II competition this season after previously facing Missouri Southern (W, 88-70) and Northwestern Oklahoma State (W, 106-57). Missouri State is led by Cuonzo Martin in his second stint leading the program and was picked 12th in the Conference USA (CUSA) Preseason Poll.

Series History: Sunday will mark the 16th meeting between the teams. Northeastern State earned their only win in the series in its most recent meeting in 1965 when Missouri State was competing at the NCAA Division II level and NSU was competing from within the NAIA ranks.
