TAHLEQUAH --
Ethan VanDusen scored his first career goal in a 1-1 draw with Newman at DeLoache Field on Saturday night.
The RiverHawks (8-7-3, 5-6-1 GAC/MIAA) could only find two shots in the first half but withstood four tries from the Jets (7-5-6, 4-4-4 GAC/MIAA) to take a goalless effort on both ends of the pitch to half.
Newman would find a strike in the 64th minute to take a 1-0 advantage. They would only stay in the lead for 10:04, as Northeastern State responded with VanDusen's goal in the 74th. The offenses would remain shut out the rest of the way.
The visitors would hold the shot advantage during the evening (11-8), but seven of NSU's eight attempts would be on-target.
Carter Adams accounted for nearly half of those particular tries, recording three shots on-goal.
Cameron McColloch would make four saves, a pair in each half.
Northeastern State continues their season in conference postseason play, facing Fort Hays State in the semifinals of the GAC/MIAA Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m.
