TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State University Golf announced the addition of Houston-area senior golfer Savannah Du, one of the top high school prospects in Texas, to the RiverHawks women's golf program.
Du, a standout at Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas, arrives at NSU with an extensive competitive background that includes strong results in AJGA national events, South Texas PGA Junior tournaments, and a decorated high school career. She has posted numerous tournament rounds in the mid to low 70s and has shown significant improvement over the past year.
A multisport athlete with seven years of tennis and six years of competitive swimming, Du brings a combination of strength, athleticism and competitive drive that coaches say translates directly to her rapid development in golf.
Head coach
Scott Varner said Du is expected to make an immediate impact.
"Savannah is the kind of athlete you only get once in a great while," Varner said. "She's strong, athletic, and incredibly driven. The growth she's shown this past year has been extraordinary. She has huge potential, and she's ready to help us right away."
Du will join a RiverHawks program looking to build on its recent momentum as NSU continues to recruit heavily from top-tier junior golf circuits.
