KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Junior infielder
Holden Yoder led Northeastern State to a commanding series sweep over Newman to open MIAA play this past weekend, delivering an explosive offensive performance that ranked among the association's best.
Yoder posted a MIAA-high .667 batting average (8-for-12) across the three-game set, helping the RiverHawks secure victories of 12-5, 13-6, and 15-8. He scored a team-best six runs and drove in five RBIÂ while maintaining a .722 on-base percentage, drawing three walks and reaching once via hit-by-pitch.
The standout moment of the weekend came in Sunday's series finale, where Yoder fell just a triple short of the cycle, capping off his impressive display at the plate.
With Yoder leading the charge, Northeastern State (6-5, 3-0 MIAA) powered its way to 40 total runs in the series, making a statement in its MIAA opening weekend.
The RiverHawks will look to build on their momentum as they return to action this Friday with a three-game series with Rogers State.
