TAHLEQUAH – Riding high after a dominant 7-0 sweep over Oklahoma Wesleyan, the Northeastern State women's tennis team is set for back-to-back home matches this weekend. The RiverHawks will host Henderson State on Friday before welcoming Ouachita Baptist on Saturday.
Henderson State enters the matchup with a 3-3 record, most recently falling 5-2 to Central Oklahoma on Feb. 23. The Reddies trail the all-time series 6-2 but have won the last two meetings. Notably, this will be the first time Northeastern State has hosted Henderson State in women's tennis.
Ouachita Baptist has started the season 1-4, securing its lone win with a narrow 4-3 victory over Newman on a neutral court in Edmond. The Tigers' top singles player, Sadbaroy Kholdarova, has been impressive, going 4-0 against MIAA opponents this spring. However, history is on NSU's side— the RiverHawks boast a commanding 17-0 all-time record against OBU.
Individually, Lucia Bontempo is off to a strong start, posting a 10-3 singles record and earning her first win at court three on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Tegan Heaton remains undefeated on the top singles court, winning both of her matches so far.
