KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following a pair of comeback wins, Northeastern State's Trey Phipps earned his second Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week honor Tuesday.
Phipps averaged 22.5 points per game last week for the RiverHawks and had a game-changing steal Saturday with seven seconds remaining that flipped the script on Missouri Southern and resulted in a 94-93 win for Northeastern State.
The fifth-year senior had 22 points on Thursday as Northeastern State rallied from a 19-point deficit to beat Pittsburg State for the third consecutive time at home.
The honor is the second this season for Phipps and the third for the NSU men's basketball program.
