HAYS, Kan. -- Northeastern State couldn't overcome a slow start and fell 76-60 to No. 8 Fort Hays State on Thursday night.

The RiverHawks (10-11, 6-6 MIAA) struggled out of the gate, shooting just 2-for-9 in the opening quarter as the Tigers built a double-digit lead that they never relinquished. NSU made a late push, cutting the deficit with a 10-2 run in the final four minutes, but it wasn't enough to close the gap.
Fort Hays State (19-2, 10-2 MIAA) controlled the boards, outrebounding NSU 47-22, including a dominant 20-5 edge on the offensive glass. The Tigers capitalized on second-chance opportunities, outscoring the RiverHawks 20-5 in that category.
Olivia Hollenbeck led the Tigers with 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting as Fort Hays State extended its winning streak to six games.
